How do we really need records management now...!

Daily transactions in an agency pose a dire need for us to manage organizational records. Failure which, we cannot keep track of our work,work progress,financial matters as such, phone bills,electricity bills,water bills,internet bills,supplier credit,customer credit which will affect organizational operations. More so in ,managing and keeping track of personal records. It is the personal attitude and social culture by which we can start with managing and keeping our records regardless of personal or official recordd. We begin to realize these when something occurs for instance,litigation, claims, quarterly audit and so on so forth. We begin to regret for not keeping and manage records properly according to existing laws and act and the records management principles itself when records are scattered, lost, storage is full of records and other materials,work progress is slow, customer complains of slow response of request and feedbacks.

Sooner or later we will be faced with unnecessarily a daunting task of searching and finding our personal and organizational records as well. Till when we want to wait for something to happen before we change attitude and look for knowledge and skills, understanding and reasons in order to manage records properly. Apabila alam berbicara

Allah berfirman yang membawa maksud iaitu kerosakan alam ini berlaku akibat dari perbuatan'tangan-tangan' manusia. Ya benar,kitalah yg membuat kerosakan di atas mukabumi ini. Jadi apabila alam memberi respon terhadap apa yg kita kerjakan bila bukit ditarah,tanah tinggi diratakan atas nama pembangunan,maka terimalah akibat dari perbuatan kita sendiri.Tunjukklah jari yg menuduh itu kepada diri kita sendiri. Persoalannya, mampukah kita mengubahnya? Sememangnya kita mampu mengubahnya selaras dgn apa yg telah Allah firmankan yg bermaksud, Allah tidak akan mengubah nasib sesuatu kaum itu,melainkan mereka sendiri yg mengubahnya. Justeru, kita perlu berubah dgn sikap kita terhadap alam kerana apabila alam berbicara,ia tidak akan mengenal sesiapa,pasti akan ada yang tertimpa dengan musibah alam. Ingatlah,walaupun kenyataan ini merupakan peringatan yang entah keberapa kalinya,kita mesti berubah dengan tindakan dan bukannya omongan yang menjelikkan telinga dan hati,walau di mana kita atau siapa kita,kita mampu mengubahnya bukan menuding jari kepada orang lain. Hakikat alam,ia sinonim dan mesra kepada umat manusia,namun alam juga akan bersikap rakus terhadap manusia dek kerana kerakusan manusia jua.

I perceive and I understand

Perception is different from one individual to another, understanding is also different in some ways but blunt ignorance of the real fact whether it is perception or understanding is a sorry state of mind among individuals in Malaysian context. INTRODUCTION

Knowledge Management is a very new field in business organization. It is a talk in town today. Even in Malaysia, there is a growing interest in the knowledge management subject or field. Thus, it is very crucial for us to take a brief look into some aspects that are quite interesting to be explored.

Some facts to consider

What is actually happening that really make us ponder from UiTM’s perspective that should be taken seriously.

l Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) through the Faculty of Information Studies is the first higher learning institution that offers this subject at master level – Master Science in Information Management in Malaysia since November, 1997. (SEE ATTACHED COURSE OUTLINE)

l Only few local companies in Malaysia are trying to implement Knowledge Management namely:

1. MIMOS

2. Malaysian Development Corporation (MDC)

3. Telekom Multimedia Division

4. Sapura Holdings Sdn Bhd

as well as some internationally known consultant companies in Malaysia like:

l Some master students, who currently take Msc in Information Management, are from those companies mentioned above as well as those who are already graduated.
